Finally – Today’s Foods

Today I really really really wanted to eat after dinner so i had some hershey kisses.  in addition to the piece of chocolate i had at lunch.  i’m starting to stress out about various things – work, hula, etc., and i need to figure out another outlet other than eating… i mean, i did okay today, especially in comparison to what i could’ve eaten, but still… oh yeah, and i ate after 9… i had a frozen fruit bar when i got home from hula.  that doesn’t really count though, does it?

Ugh! I’m pretty terrible this week – I haven’t been updating like i should…

Tuesday’s foods were fine.  I had a great 5 mile run, doing 11 minute miles the whole time and only walking for 1 minute every 10 minutes instead of every 4.  it was super cold was the only problem!

today was pretty straightfoward – no binges, no major cravings, no terrible foods eaten, and all within my daily caloric intake!

I was bad today and forgot to take a picture of dinner which was a homemade turkey ranch burger w/low fat cheese and lite mayo and brown sugar carrots.  the buffet made today kind of hard, especially after last night, but the workout today made up for all of it and more (i hope!)

my workout today was to run 10 miles.  michelle and kat helped me out.  kat started the run with me and michelle met us after a mile or so and ran with me to the halfway point and back.  then kat and michelle walked for a bit while i ran ahead and then michelle dropped of kat so that i’d have someone to finish with.  poor michelle fell on the sidewalk, tripping over a crack as we neared the 5 mile marker and kat got blisters on both of her feet from her new shoes!  i felt terrible.  the run itself was okay. i went a little slower than i might have liked otherwise but the different terrain of running on woodchips and my new running buddies were definite factors.  i got super hungry in like the 8th mile and ate a little bit of power bar.  it was super hot out too – maybe 80 degrees – which may not seem like a lot except when theres no breeze and full sun.  ugh!  but i made it to the end and that’s all that matters!  maybe next week i’ll actually sign up for the marathon…

Today I ate terribly.  Very, very terribly.  and this whole weekend i was terrible about taking pictures!  from today, my souplantation pictures are missing.  i had 1 piece of cornbread, 1 whole wheat buttermilk biscuit, 1 c. asian salad, 1 chocolate muffin, 1/2 c. soft serve, and 1 c. of chicken noodle soup.

Today was a pretty good day for food. I wasn’t craving sweets too much, but i also didn’t feel like making anything to eat which only became problematic around dinner.  my run today was good.  an easy 2 miles. my thigh muscle is pretty sore still, but i think thats primarily repurcussions from yesterday’s treadmill fiasco.

worst run ever

so food wise today i was okay. i really wanted chocolate but settled for a small cookie at work. when i weighed myself this morning after my workout i’d lost 2.5 pounds since last week, so that was really awesome and a nice silver lining in an otherwise shitty morning. My run this morning was so terrible at the gym. I’d been dreading 7 miles on the treadmill all week and after a bad night at hula i definitely wasn’t mentally prepared to do it and even tried switching treadmills to help in the middle. I ended up getting off the treadmill after 5 miserable, slow, horribly run/walked miles and will try to make up those two by the beach tomorrow on a nice, leisurely, enjoyable run.

i need to start eating some new foods.. i’m starting to get bored looking at my own food blog! maybe thats why i was jonesing today for cookies and pizza and katsu chicken… mmmm

Today I was starving all day!  I don’t know what it was – maybe my body was just yearning for the calories its been missing since i was probably eating twice as many before I started or maybe the 5 miles i ran jump started my metabolism and i burned them like crazy.. i dunno, but i do know that even though i ate all this (i forgot to take a picture of the lonely banana) i still came in far under my calorie allotment according to Lose It so i’m not complaining.  The good thing about healthy foods is that u can eat larger quantities, but the downside is they’re not always as filling.  I won’t get into the taste factors, although as I drove home STARVING every fast food place and billboard for pizza made me salivate.  thankfully I had calories to eat when I got home or i might’ve gone crazy!

my run today was okay.  i didn’t have my watch, so i timed my running breaks according to the songs that were playing and took longer runs and less walk breaks.  i want to be able to run the 10K next month without walking and looking like an idiot…

Sunday Funday Foods

so today was the first day that Christian and I really gave this new diet our all.  Trying new foods – cottage cheese – which is still pretty gross, counting calories, not eating after 9pm and trying to hit all of our recommended food groups with the appropriate servings.  i did pretty good, surprisingly and was just a tad short on protein and surprisingly starches.

in the exercise world, today I ran 6 miles along the san gabriel river with my buddy john.  it’s been so long so i really ran with anyone I forgot how easily an intended 11-12 minute/mile run can turn into 0:10:45 minute/mile run.  it was nice having someone to run with though and it was also great to get some motivation back.  talking to someone who has run marathons and trained by himself really made me feel better and replenish my spirit.  body wise, the run felt pretty good although around 4.5 miles i started to feel the pace and my muscles started to tighten up a bit.  i’m pretty stiff right now and my inner thigh hurts a lot, but hopefully that is just a symptom of the speed and not a real injury. I’m sure it’ll be okay though.  nothing too serious… LA Marathon, here I come!
